University Policies

The Office of Equity (OE) was created to administer the University's Nondiscrimination and Sexual Misconduct Policies by addressing all complaints of discrimination and harassment based on sexual misconduct and protected characteristics, reported by University students, faculty, staff and/or third parties.

In addition to the University's Nondiscrimination and Sexual Misconduct Policies, the OE also enforces the Conflict of Interest in Cases of Amorous Relationships Policy and the Equal Opportunity Employment and Affirmative Action.

University Procedures

The OE employs comprehensive, unbiased, resolution processes to ensure safety and prevent further harm, offer support resources, understand the scope of the problem, and determine options for resolution.

University of Colorado Statement on U.S. Department of Education's Title IX Regulations

The Office of Equity is currently reviewing the new Title IX regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Education and Office for Civil Rights that were announced on May 6, 2020. These regulations must be implemented on an aggressive timeline at a challenging time for our University, but we will work with our campus stakeholders and make the changes necessary. We must comply with this new federal law by August 14, 2020.

Currently, we advise that you wait to complete the mandatory two-hour Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct training until you receive further communication from our office or the University regarding updates to university policy and procedures based on the new Title IX regulations.

Review this Title IX New Regulations Q&A document to find answers to any initial questions you may have regarding the new regulations.

If you have additional questions or concerns regarding the new regulations or the mandatory training, please reach out to our office via email at or phone at 303.315.2567.
