In August 2019, CU Denver Facilities Management installed menstrual product dispensers in several single-stall and women's restrooms on the CU Denver Campus*. In March of 2022, the Office of Policy and Efficiency (OPE) announced the Regent approval of a new policy titled, the CU System Administrative Policy Statement (APS 3005)-Lactation Spaces. This new policy was not only designed to expand campus lactation spaces but also to increase the accessibility of menstrual products on all four campuses.

These products are free to the public. Signage with information on where to find the menstrual product dispensers are posted in all restrooms.

Note*: At this time, dispensers have only been installed on the CU Denver Campus. With the implementation of APS 3005, more menstrual products will become available to campus constituents.

Resource:  Preferred Name Process

Beginning November 2024, CU Anschutz will work toward using an employee’s preferred first name as the default name for CU Anschutz systems & software unless there is a regulatory or reporting requirement to use legal name. The migration of preferred first name will occur in phases and evolve over time.

A preferred first name may be a nickname, middle name, professional name that reflects publications or professional activities, anglicized name, a chosen name, or an affirming name that better aligns with an employee’s gender identity and expression.

• Employees no longer need to be referred to the Office of Equity to request a preferred first name update.  Employees may update their preferred first name field at any time in the HCM self-service portal. Instructions are available on the webpage. 

• If an employee chooses to enter a preferred first name into the HCM self-service portal, the system will automatically update the Badging Office, and the change will update their login credentials and email address. These updates may take up to 3-5 business days to cascade to all three systems.
