Description: Creating a supportive communication ecosystem in schools is critical to empowering students with complex communication needs to achieve autonomy and success. This presentation explores strategies for developing a collaborative, multimodal approach to augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) implementation in educational settings. Attendees will learn about defining communication ecosystems, implementing classroom-based AAC supports, and addressing challenges like device abandonment and generalization. Through practical examples, case studies, and evidence-based practices, participants will gain actionable insights to foster inclusive communication environments that engage students, educators, and families.

Art for ALL! Implementing Inclusive Art Programs for Diverse Learners

Description: Access to and participation in art is a federal and state standard in the United States. Authentic participation in art is essential to help students, including those with disabilities, develop skills in the areas of complex problem-solving, cognition, physical development, access methods, social skills, critical-thinking, agency, self expression, and literacy to name a few. Plus, art is just plain fun! This session will be packed full of fun adaptive art projects that are inclusive in design and full of opportunities to practice emergent and conventional literacy skills, creative usage of AAC supports and switch access. You will leave with ideas and resources to start an adapted art program in your classroom, school, or district.
