CU Denver is embarking on our highly anticipated goal of constructing a forward-thinking engineering, design, and computing building to:
House our College of Engineering, Design and Commuting
Grow interdisciplinary computing and technology initiatives
Serve as the anchor for Denver's new open innovation district
The Innovation District — one of the major goals of CU Denver’s visionary 2030 Strategic Plan — will establish a potent tech hub in the heart of downtown Denver that will grow new technology across myriad fields, from healthcare to banking and everything in between.
To build the industries of tomorrow, we need to invest today. At CU Denver, we believe we have a distinct opportunity to become a major supplier of diverse tech talent. Not only will our students be equipped with the critical skills necessary for the jobs of the future but many will also be local, growing, and contributing to Denver's economy.
jobs in computing and related technologies expected between 2021 and 2022
jobs in Denver, of which 10% are in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields
growth in computing-related degrees at CU Denver
Situated on Speer Boulevard at Larimer Street, the engineering, design and computing building will establish a prominent anchor for an innovation district along one of Denver’s most traveled corridors.
Moreover, the building will serve as a hub for computational thinking to capitalize on the vast proliferation of data and the science and engineering needed to harness its power.
The innovation district will leverage metro Denver’s position as the top region in the nation for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) job growth.* It will draw on CU Denver’s laboratories, research facilities and its leading role in educating tech talent — with over 5,500 students enrolled in STEAM fields, many of whom stay local.
