Who We Are

The Ombuds Office is a confidential resource that members of the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz community can approach to discuss, voice, and clarify any university-related concerns. We are a neutral third-party resource that is available to hear individual complaints and help sort out and identify options for resolving those concerns.

Ombuds Office staff are well-trained in listening, facilitating, recommending, mediating, and coaching. Each individual on our team is a member of the International Ombuds Association.

We also offer trainings and workshops for groups and departments to help learn communication skills, conflict management, and effective team building.

What We Believe

We believe that conflict is inevitable, whether personal or professional. We also believe that our office can help people engage with conflict effectively in order to improve relationships and results.

What a Visit Entails

Communications with the Ombuds Office may begin with a phone call or e-mail. Please contact our office to make an appointment.

When you meet with an Ombuds, the first step we take is to actively listen to concerns and issues brought to the office. The Ombuds will not act on any of the information unless given permission to do so. Unless specifically waived, your identity shall remain anonymous. If requested, the Ombuds may inquire about a specific policy or procedure, discuss the issue with other individuals directly involved with the problem, assist you in evaluating your options, and offer to mediate if necessary.

People talking at deskThe Ombuds will continue assisting you for as long as is necessary to resolve the matter. At any time you may end the relationship with the Ombuds Office and no further action will be taken. There are no limitations on the number of times you may meet with the Ombuds.
