Tutoring Done Differently

At the LRC, we do tutoring a bit differently. While traditional tutoring has always been a crucial piece to the success of students, we thought the process could use some rejuvenation. Now, we’re putting extra emphasis on peer-to-peer tutoring.

The foundation of higher education is peer learning – learning through interaction, collaboration, and discussion with other students. That’s why we’ve decided to leverage peer learning with technology and increase accessibility to foster maximum student engagement.

Academic Guides are incredibly important to this process, acting as facilitators that provide structure and direction. But equally important are the peer-tutors who not only promote collaboration, but also enrich and expand their own knowledge along the way.

CU Denver students have a unique opportunity to benefit from interacting with our diverse student population. Now, that opportunity has been expanded. Contact us today to see how the LRC can support you through effective and engaging peer-to-peer support.

**The LRC makes every attempt to update schedules to reflect late start times and/or cancellations. Peer Tutoring times are subject to change.
In-person Peer Tutoring takes place in the Learning Hub (Learning Commons first floor). All Zoom sessions can be accessed using the respective links in the schedules below. Please note all session days and start times. New subjects and additional times may be added throughout the semester, so please check the schedule for the most up to date information.

Academic Integrity

LRC_c_clr (1)The Learning Resources Center at CU Denver believes that academic integrity is the core component of self-worth and academic achievement.  It is essential in shaping the growth mindset that encourages intellectual risk-taking and views mistakes as opportunities for students to learn and grown as open-minded, lifelong learners.

Academic guides (tutors) are here to support you in these efforts and encourage you to develop problem-solving skills.  Our tutors may assist you by clarifying concepts and working through examples and problems to help you understand an assignment.  Though they are not permitted to provide you with the answer on graded assignment, they are able to prompt you with probing questions and similar sample problems to help you reach the solution together.
