The CU Denver Student and Community Counseling Center (SCCC) provides mental health services to CU students enrolled in classes on the Denver campus, as well as to Denver-Metro community members. CU Denver students automatically receive 10 free counseling sessions annually. Community members may schedule up to 10 sessions per year and are charged on a sliding scale basis. We offer culturally responsive strengths-based therapy focused on achieving personal growth and building supportive relationships. Our counselors will help you reach your academic and personal goals using Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
While we welcome all prospective clients, the SCCC cannot provide intensive or long-term clinical services. This includes treatment for severe eating disorders, serious substance abuse, or acute symptoms requiring hospitalization. Our counselors do not write ESA letters, custody evaluations, or forensic assessments. For long-term treatment or specialized services, please seek outside care. We are happy to provide you with a list of community referrals in the Denver Metro area upon request.
To schedule an intake appointment, please call us at 303-315-7270.
Individuals who submit our Appointment Request form will receive our Getting Started paperwork and, once they complete the paperwork, our front desk will schedule an intake appointment within 24 business hours. If you meet our threshold for high risk, one of our clinicians will call you to check in on the same day.
We want you to feel comfortable talking to someone about your mental health. Whether it's one-on-one counseling or chatting in one of our group settings, let us find the best services for you.
Call. Chat. Anytime. Anywhere. The TELUS Health Student Support app connects students with free, confidential mental health and wellbeing support available 24/7 via app, telephone and web.
We're stronger together. Through trainings, screenings, conversations, and other programs, we can connect more to help each other through our toughest times. We will get through this.
