The Research and Creative Activities Symposium (RaCAS) provides a forum for students to present their faculty-mentored research, creative, or other scholarly activity to the university community. This event showcases the accomplishments of our most motivated students, engaged in scholarly activities across disciplines. Students not yet engaged in research are encouraged to attend to learn more about getting involved. We hope you and your students will participate in this year's event. Looking for more ways to get involved? Keep reading!
Students across all disciplines are encouraged to share their student-driven research and creative projects they've worked on throughout the academic year. Submissions are welcome from projects in all stages. Encourage your students to present on a paper they wrote in class or a research question they are developing, to give a performance, or to showcase a film or art series.
Faculty mentors are strongly encouraged to attend the Symposium and to assist their students with abstract development and presentation practice or poster design, particularly students who have not yet presented their work for a general audience. The presentations are intended to stimulate discussion among presenters, faculty mentors, and the CU Denver community.
Registration to present closes in March. View full registration details here.
RaCAS is a community event and there are many ways for faculty and staff to get involved.
RaCAS reviewers volunteer their time, enthusiasm, and expertise to help our students grow as researchers and creative scholars. Reviewers engage directly with students and their projects; asking questions, guiding discussions, and providing constructive input that supports the educational mission of the symposium. CU Denver faculty, staff, and community partners are encouraged to sign up to review projects.

Do you have an idea for a discipline-focused session at RaCAS? Perhaps a series of related talks, performances, or a workshop? Propose a special session to tell us about your idea. Sessions can be virtual, in-person, or hybrid. Session planners will be responsible for organizing their individual session in collaboration with the RaCAS planning committee.

We invite departments and programs to set up informational resource tables at RaCAS to give you the chance to share with students about the resources and research and creative activity (RCA) opportunities in your department or program, as well as information about your majors, minors, and certificate programs.
Are there recent faculty or student outputs (articles, new studies, books, exhibits, community projects, presentations, etc.) that you want to highlight? Let us know in the sign-up form to get promoted at RaCAS! We encourage each resource table to have faculty, staff, or students available to share what RCA looks like in your area.

We welcome collaboration from our campus partners to make this event a success. Get involved during RaCAS by volunteering for a time-slot during set-up on the Thursday before RaCAS or on Friday, April 25, 2025.
If you are interested in joining the RaCAS planning committee, contact undergrad.research@ucdenver.edu.
Motivate students in your courses to attend RaCAS by offering extra credit! This will introduce students not active in research or creative investigation to the work being done by fellow students. It will also foster peer-to-peer interactions discussing academic subjects. Have class on the last Friday in April? Allow students to attend as part of your course schedule.
Not sure what to do for extra credit? Below are some ideas:
