Pamela Jansma, PhD, serves as the Interim Provost. She was tapped for the position in February 2025 while the university searches for its next full-time provost. Dr. Jansma joined CU Denver in 2014 as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). Since then, she has championed interdisciplinary programs and collaborative academic opportunities that created new pathways for student success across CU Denver’s colleges and schools. Her role as Dean of CLAS also focuses on helping CU Denver strive towards its goals in the 2030 Strategic Plan. Most recently supporting efforts toward being a university for life by creating new certificate programs aimed at in-demand workforce skills alongside her outstanding leadership team.
Before CU Denver, Dr. Jansma was the Dean of the College of Science at the University of Texas at Arlington, and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at New Mexico State University. She also spent many years in both academic and administrative positions at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, and the University of Arkansas.
Dr. Jansma earned her BS in Geology from Stanford University, along with her MA and PhD in Geological Sciences from Northwestern University. Her background in geosciences focuses on using the Global Positioning System to examine deformation of Earth's surface with emphasis on active tectonics of the Caribbean region.
