joined CU Denver’s Office of Global Education as a Program Manager in August 2021, bringing over ten years of experience in diverse higher education roles and international program operations.
Originally from South Carolina, Krystal received
a Bachelor of Arts with highest honors in International Studies with a minor in Japanese from the University of South Carolina. While at USC, she completed coursework abroad in Taiwan focusing on modern Taiwanese culture and society. Soon afterwards,
Krystal earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Converse University. She gained experience in college teaching, academic advising, VA Education Benefit advising (SCO), study abroad coordination, and international student advising (PDSO) at various
institutions. Krystal also served as a Gilman Scholarship Selection Panelist in Fall 2016 & Spring 2021, and as an Education New Zealand site visit delegate in August 2019. She has traveled to 17 countries with a special affinity for the Oceania region.
In addition, Krystal has presented at a number of education events including the Lessons from Abroad: Rocky Mountain Conference, the Forum on Education Abroad, the NAFSA Region II Conference, and the University of Denver’s Internationalization
Summit. Krystal has also co-facilitated multiple "First-Generation Student Leadership Program: Cultural Competence & Inclusive Leadership" workshops at the 2018-2020 GlobalMindED Conferences.
Beyond education abroad, Krystal’s professional
interests include instructional design, first-year student success initiatives, and mentoring student veterans. Outside of work, Krystal enjoys gardening, road trips, recording radio commercials, and volunteering for the World Affairs Challenge.
