Temporary Staff

Temporary positions are limited to nine months of continuous employment with a four month break OR nine months of employment in any 12 month period followed by a four month break. Temporary employees are paid on a bi-weekly/hourly basis. 

Posting is not required if truly a temporary position, position will not be filled permanently in the future, and does not exceed 9 months.

Process:
  1. Department will need to fill out the Temporary Questionnaire and email that to their Business Partner (BP)
  2. BP will obtain approval
  3. BP will process BGC, I9, Drafted Offer Letter, Hire 

Healthy Families and Workplace Act 2020

Colorado legislature passed the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act requiring employers across the state to provide paid sick leave to their employees. This law impacts employees across the state, including part-time employees not already covered by CU’s standard sick leave policy.

  • January 1, 2021, hourly employees will earn .034 hours for each hour worked.
  • Affected employees will be able to carry a maximum of 48 hours of sick leave from one fiscal year to the next.
