Housing & Dining's Announcement to Residents

March 17, 2020 @ 12:40 p.m.

Dear Residents:

Thank you all for your understanding and patience in this rapidly changing environment as we navigate the impact of the coronavirus outbreak.  We appreciate the flexibility you have shown as the university has transitioned to remote learning.

In response to these changes and to the continued guidance from the CDC to facilitate “social distancing,” we must significantly reduce the number of students in our residence hall. Any student who can leave are strongly urged to leave, by Thursday, March 31, 2020. Some students will not be able to leave and will need to stay through the length of their housing contract; we are committed to remaining open for those of you who face this situation. For us to serve these students as best we can, we need those who have other options to exercise them.

In order to accommodate those unable to leave, we are asking residents who wish to stay to fill out this form: Petition to Remain in Housing and submit the form no later than March 23, 2020, at 12 p.m..

We need to be able to track who is staying in the building, and this form will help us do this.  We will evaluate these requests and provide a decision as quickly as we can. Any student who remains will be asked to move suites to ensure single occupancy, which will assist with social distancing.

For those residents who are able to leave, please register for a move-out time here: Move-Out Time Sign-up March 2020. This form will also let you designate any visitors who will be helping you with the move-out process. Only those who are indicated on this form will be permitted to assist you with your move.  You will have two hours to complete the move-out process, and you should plan to be fully vacated by your sign-up time. Outside of that, the visitor ban will remain in effect.

For those who will be moving to another location, please vacate completely by Thursday March 31, 2020.  This allows you to be eligible for a 100% prorated (for the remainder of the semester) credit to your CU Denver Bursar Account. This amount will be determined by the day you check out. You must check out with a member of the staff -- please do not leave without doing so.

*Any student who has already left and vacated completely will not need to return to the building. Please mail your keys taped to an index card with your name and student ID number and Campus Village ID number to: Kade Ross, 318 Walnut St., Denver, CO 80204.

Details for moving out/checking out:

Move-out bins and dollies will be available at the front desk. We will sanitize them between usages.

Trash can be placed in trash rooms when bagged. Do not place un-bagged trash in the rooms. DO NOT leave trash in your rooms. An extra dumpster will be delivered this week for your use.

Once your room is empty, please come to the front desk and a member of the staff will collect keys and check you out.

We know this is a difficult time for you and for all of our students.  Campus Village has been your home, and we recognize that this disruption on top of the overall uncertainly of these times, is a major sacrifice. We appreciate your help with this process, and please let us know if you have any questions or if there is anything else we can do to assist.
