A Second Day Off in November for Employees

Oct. 19, 2022

Dear faculty and staff,

As we continue to take important steps toward achieving our university’s goal of being a “best place to work” and investing in your well-being, I wanted to share a piece of good news. In addition to being closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, CU Denver will now also be closed on Friday, Nov. 25.

This additional day off during a time we set aside to reflect on moments of gratitude and spend time with family is a small token of our appreciation for each of you. You work tirelessly to help our students and support our communities. I am reminded every day that what we continue to accomplish together at CU Denver is only possible because of your commitment. I’d also like to thank Governor Jared Polis for helping ensure this added benefit by designating that Friday a state holiday.

The entire Auraria Campus will be closed on Friday, Nov. 25, and staffed with only essential personnel. If you are designated essential personnel, please check with your supervisor before making any final holiday plans. And don’t forget that our campus will also be closed from Dec. 26-Jan. 2 for our winter break, offering another much-deserved opportunity to recharge. I have also asked our Human Resources and Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to work with shared governance representatives to continue to review our annual observance and holiday calendar and come back to me with recommendations for the future.

Thank you again for all you do for our students, CU Denver, and our communities. I hope you have a great rest of your week.
