LYNX UP Scholarship Campaign, 4-2-2018

Dear colleagues,

We’re midway through the first phase of the LYNX UP scholarship campaign, and more than 180 faculty and staff members have demonstrated their firm commitment to our students by making gifts to support scholarships at CU Denver. I am gratified and impressed by this outpouring of generosity and extend my deepest thanks to those of you who have contributed so far.

This campaign is so important to CU Denver because the success of our students is our highest priority. We know it’s hard for students to excel when they’re worrying about how to afford their education. Even after receiving financial aid (which 70% of our undergraduates do), two-thirds of CU Denver students still have unmet financial need. LYNX UP will help close this gap by expanding the dollars available for student scholarships.

Many thanks to the faculty, staff and students who are leading LYNX UP, starting with the dedicated group who’ve served on its steering committee over the past year. We welcome your contribution as well. You invest your time and talents in the university and our students every day; LYNX UP offers you another path to support our students. Your gift in any amount will make a tremendous difference to them and to CU Denver. Beyond this, your participation will also serve as a noteworthy endorsement of our university. By demonstrating our personal commitment to CU Denver and our students, we signal to the larger community that this is an initiative and an institution worthy of support.

Participating in the LYNX UP Challenge is also a great way to show your competitive spirit as we recognize the campus unit with the highest percentage of employees making gifts to scholarships before May 1. Currently, the School of Public Affairs is in the lead, with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences running a close second – though with one more month to go, it’s still anybody’s race. The winning unit will enjoy an exclusive party in the new Lola and Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center next fall.

We recognize that giving is a personal, voluntary choice. We do it from the heart and because we care. If you'd like to join us in demonstrating our support of CU Denver students in this way, please consider making a gift today. Every gift, like every student, makes a difference.
